Cycling day 8 Peniche - Ericeira

There is nothing like a great European breakfast spread at a nice hotel. At home we are not big breakfast eaters, but here… it is a different story.  Dinner doesn’t start until 7:00 or 7:30 so sometimes the breakfast is what nourishes us until then. Today we DID have  a mid afternoon snack of gelato to tie us over. 😁

Shortly after we started our ride today the sky became a consistent rumble minutes later it started to downpour. Luckily there was a mechanics garage that allowed us to shelter and even shared fresh picked apples and pears with us.

Sky cleared up and we were  on the road, but with a couple more intermittent showers.

        11:11 shot of the day.

We stopped at Praia de Porto Dinheiro to view some of  it’s amazing dinosaurs history.

We saw many of these old wind mills with out the sails.

Previous days we had bike/pedestrian paths that were red. Today they were green.

A shot form over Tim’s shoulder.

Our overnight location, Ericeira

We explored a bit of this rather large hilly town before going to the restaurant recommendation. It opened at 7 and we were second in line. To get in you had to pass the fresh fish display and choose your dinner. We picked this turbot fish. (Placed on the scale)  The meal was delicious, great service and a wonderful sunset too. We discovered later that “The noblest fish in the sea are the turbot and the Dover sole. They are found only in European waters and are the most expensive fish on the market.” 😋
