Cycling Day 5 Figueira da Foz – São Pedro de Moel

Friday 9/16/22

We knew today was going to be a long day… over 50 miles with climbing. Fortunately the weather is now wonderful.. mid/upper 70 with a constant breeze.  The climbs were quite challenging, but the roads (for the most part) were good. Along the route there was an abundance of eucalyptus, pine and bamboo fields.  We think the bamboo was growing wild, but the other two were carefully planted fields. We also passed by olive orchards and lots of rice fields. The land today again revealed the scaring of the devastating 2017 fire that ravaged Portugal.

Waiting for the train… hauling timber.
Interesting yellow pumpkins and orange corn drying.
Below is the 11:11 photo of the day.

Lots of rice fields.
There was  km after km of wonderful separated bike paths.

We are staying in a hotel right in front of the beach, our balcony looks out to the Atlantic.

From our balcony you can also see the lighthouse.

Strolling to dinner along the path and enjoying the crash of the waves and the beauty of the beach below.
