The bridge over the Susquehanna River allowed bicycles, but we wouldn’t consider it bike friendly.
The road was sometimes busy, but the bike lane was usually large and smooth and we absolutely took advantage of the rolling hills.
We were on our way to Elkton to meet Tom and Jeff for a farewell breakfast.
Jeff got a shot of us as we turned off the main highway as we approached the breakfast place in Elkton.
Roads became more rural. 👍🏻😃
We entered the 7th state on or journey by crossing the Delaware border.
11:11 today:
Nice spot for a break.
There was quite the commotion when lots of police in cars, on motorcycles, and on bicycles were escorting a group of runners on the Law Enforcement Memorial Run. (During National Police week, a 3 day, 150-mile relay style race from the Philadelphia Navy Yard to the Washington D.C. National Police Memorial.)
We were in Delaware for 24 miles… then had our second state crossing in one day! A not-so-scenic route did not provide a welcome sign. But the bike route sign indicated PA!
The first 10 miles of PA were not very welcoming… industry, stinky and debris, but it did get better.
We rolled through some beautiful neighborhoods before finding our way to the hotel. Got our laundry in and had a happy hour beer at the bar. Enjoyed chatting with Danielle and Dave about all sorts of things. Times like that make good memories.
Today’s stats: 2 state crossings, 62 miles, 2240’
That bridge was scary!
