Last night the forcast was for rain throughout the morning, so we felt very fortunate to just endure a few sprinkles! It was only about 8 miles to get to Philadelphia downtown.
Our first stop was the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Rocky Balboa raced up the steps.
This Washington Monument is in the traffic circle infront of the Rocky steps.
Welcome to Philly.
This hopping breakfast spot (Cafe Lift) was in a rough part of town, but it certainly drew in a crowd….. because the energy and food was awesome.
Different sites along the way as we road through Philly.
Not so pretty, but this was at 11:11.
This mural caught Tim’s eye. It was not enough to take a photo of it, or a shot with one of us in it, or a selfie with it in the background. Tim thought it would be fun to dance infront of it! The time it took to set up that pose was crazy… arranging the bike just so, finding the perfect stone to place under the phone so the tilt was right and getting it set up to include the full mural… then “dancing” while the people waiting at the stop light behind us were surely being entertained. This is the outcome… after 3 tries! 🤗
Next stop… Bitchin Kitten Brewery. We shared a flight and a falafel gyro. Fun place!
We made our way over the Delaware River to cross the border to New Jersey. It was a lesser road, so no welcome sign, but we improvised.
Tim’s bike as really been acting up (skipping gears) particularly when he is accelerating. It is a big concern for various reasons. Today we had two close calls! Both times scary and due to blatant reckless driving. therefore having a malfunctioning bike is not only frustrating, it is also frightening. Instead of checking out all the beauty of Princeton, we visited 2 bike shops.
Verdict was… neither had the parts necessary. A new bike was suggested, Tim contemplated and we still have the ol’ Trek 520 in our hotel room.
Todays stats: 61 miles 1350’ climbing. 1 brewery and 1 state crossing.
