5/5/23 Suffolk to Jamestown, VA

What a wonderful day!  We enjoyed cool temperatures with beautiful skies, quiet, well paved roads that meandered the countryside and gentle rolling roads that delivered us to a ferry.

We were astounded to come across this beautiful big Memorial Veterans Cemetery. It was very well organized by branches of the military.

We got to the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry with 20 minutes to spare. A few other cyclists showed up and we had fun chatting.  One guy got a flat just before boarding the ferry. Tim volunteered to help him since we’ve had a lot of recent experience fixing flats.  It was repaired before we arrived in Jamestown.

Our first stop was a brewery minutes from the ferry. They had a fun food truck: The Hungry Pug that had some specials to go along with Cinco de Mayo.

After that fuel break we spent the next 2 hours exploring the Jamestown settlement, both with a guided tour which shed light on some new discoveries based on archaeological digs, then on our own.

When we finally got back on our bikes it was getting close to 5. We decided to have dinner before checking in to our accommodations.  Of course Mexican was the most popular choice for today… and it was very apparent by the line at La Terraza Mexican Grill. We found room at the bar for margaritas, guacamole with chip and a shared big burrito.😋
