As we watched from the 8th floor, there were joggers passing by on the boardwalk, beach tractors came out to clean up or grade the sand and pet owners with their dogs to having fun on the beach.
It was a fun start to the days ride… along the beach boardwalk, on paths, and trails designated of bicycles.
This big guy was just a good photo op.
Most of our ride was very pleasant and quiet…even the large bridge going over the Elizabeth River had a huge, well protected bike lane.
We had been keeping a lookout for A Little Free Library. Tim spotted this one in a small park just in time so we could take it for our 11:11 shot. Myra, one of our dedicated hen caretakers, also helps out at the library. She’s preparing for the summer reading program kick off and is looking for some creative photos of readers. We are happy to contribute.
Arriving at our destination after only 51 miles felt good. Soffolk is know for the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. It currently covers 112,000 acres, the largest intact swamp habitat of what was once over a million acres. It boasts of over 200 species of birds.
Suffolk also became home to Planters Nuts and Chocolates company in 1912 and still is a major peanut processing center.
Thank you for the great reading pictures!
