Due to rush hour of the refinery workers, the usually quiet road was quite busy. The sign below let us know we were welcome to be there, but the bullet holes made us a little less sure.
Only one cyclist was seen in route. Seth saw us stopped at the side of the road trying to figure out where to go next. Not only did he guide us, he also gave us directions to a great coffee roasting place near LSU and information of a ride he recommends where he commonly sees 10+ foot alligators. Unfortunately we only had enough time for the coffee. Haha.
We planned to ride the levee bike trail into Baton Rouge, but due to the high river waters the trail was closed and an extra row of sand bags were atop it.
By the time we arrived in Baton Rouge we found a great bike shop that tuned my bike and and gave us the best routes for the next days ride.
We checked in and planned to golf but we discovered the club was missing a piece. Since we had time, we back tracked 6+ miles to check the point in the road where my golf club fell apart. Fortunately our journey was not in vain, we found the missing piece - and now we're ready to Golf yeah!
On the way back we quenched our thirst at a local root beer stand.
After cleaning up and a short nap we wandered the waterfront and downtown of Baton Rouge. The friendly Happy's Irish pub quenched our thirst it (was 95+ afterall!)
Across the street there was a large group of runners forming. Turns out every Tuesday night local runners gather for a race. We enjoyed some catfish fries and tacos as we watched the race from the patio seating.
By the time the run ended the thunder storms were making everyone scatter. We watched and listened to the fierce weather from the comfort of our hotel room.-
