The road was smooth, typically shaded and it seemed we owned the road. The history of the Natchez Indians and others that used this area were posted along the way.
The only setback of the parkway was the lack of available water. With temperatures in the 90's we were going through the our water very quickly. We decided we had to leave the parkway to seek out water. Hwy 61 was also a somewhat quiet road but without the much needed shade.
Today included extreme heat, lots of rolling hills, pesky bugs and more miles to cover than I was interested in riding! We stopped in Port Gibbons for lunch.
The day was so hot that the vast majority of cars had there windows up with air conditioning on, but there were a few that had the windows down; arms or even feet hanging out. Tim and I were surprised to see one passenger cooling off with his bare butt hanging out the window. I didn't have fast enough reflexes to get a photo!
Finally, our destination of Vicksburg was in sight.... thank goodness. A nice dip in the pool helped to cool us.
