Day 4 - Natchez, MS

We filled our bellies with a variety of breakfast foods offered at the St. Francisville Inn and were ready to get on the road. To stay off the major roads we ventured on peaceful side roads...showing.off it's beautiful scenery, lovely shade, wonderful large homesteads as well as the shallow creek crossing, dogs ready to chase and roads that turned to dirt and gravel.

It was an adventure that we were both happy that we experienced.

We stopped in the small town Woodville to fill our waterbottles and grab a snack. A little cafe had chocolate chip cookies and "gooey cookie bars" that we shared... providing us with just enough energy to go the remaining 36 miles.
Hooray, we made it to our first state crossing.

The shoulder immediately changed upon crossing the state line; it shrank and developed rumble strips. Luckily there wasn't that much traffic.

It was another hot day, but lucky for us the clouds were constantly drifting infront of the blazing sun.

We made it to the outskirts of Natchez before 1:00.

In our final mile to the hotel we felt a couple very large drops of rain and heard the thunder close by. Within minutes of arriving at the hotel the storm came with a vengeance.

After cleaning up we explored the historic downtown Natchez, including the famed Under the Hill Saloon where the phrase "Let the good times roll" was coined.
Catfish at the Magnolia Grill was a great dinner reward.
