We’re not sure if the quieter roads were because it is a Saturday or the roads were just less traveled, but we loved it! Rain came down in big drops for a short while… but felt good and even fun! Less than a half hour later the skies were clear!

Unfortunately I got yet another flat on my rear tire #5! The good news was that it was very close to a small, rural convenience market. Almost as soon as I had removed my wheel, a local guy named Anthony strolled up and the conversation started. He certainly showed the southern hospitality when he did what he could to help out.
Lot of fishing around here and the market had a large container of live crickets making noise just a few feet away from where the flat repair was taking place.
We arrived in the town of Walterboro in the early afternoon.
Google maps indicated a couple places for lunch on the Main Street, but neither were open. We got a tip from some tourists that the county museum also serves lunch on Friday and Saturday. When we arrived we found out they were sold out. Small talk and more small town southern hospitality… and we not only enjoyed a brisket lunch, they also added a salad for free!
The free museum was pretty cool looking, but because they close at 2:00, we had less than 10 minutes to ckeck it out.
We arrived at the Holiday Inn Express and discovered that they didn’t have a self serve laundry facility! 😫 We spent some time in the lobby investigating other hotels nearby. Soon enough Sandra, a dedicated employee of Holiday Inn for over 30 years said we could do our laundry in their huge professional machines! It might not have pleased hotel management, but we were thrilled with her offer! Those machines are so big we could have thrown in all our clothes and still not fill it half way! No photo of Sandra, but she was a perfect example of beautiful southern kindness and hospitality.
After the afternoon downpour and laundry was done, we headed to the only non fast food restaurant nearby; Cracker Barrel! 😃
Love that down home southern hospitality!
