The weather was terrific and a long bike path into Charleston was a welcomed surprise.
11:11 shot of the day.
After arriving in Charleston we cleaned up and headed for the popular historic districts on foot.
First stop was Beer Works, where we bellied up to the bar to partake in a flight of IPAs and a snack.
We got to The Charleston City Market with just enough time to check it all out. In 1788 the land was ceded for a public market is recognized as one of the oldest in the country. It stretches 3 city blocks and now has both open air and air conditioned buildings.
The postcards show the pineapple fountain as another landmark… so off we went and discovered the Vendue Fountain first with children playing.
The Pineapple Fountain is by the waterfront. The pineapple is the symbol of welcome and luxury.
Another iconic spot of Charleston is Rainbow Row. 13 brightly colored houses constructed in 1740.
Of course there are lots of churches in the south… and some huge ones in Charleston.
Our dinner was at a converted church. (Our first dinner date almost 23 years ago was at a converted church!). The photo was in the church, but we ate dinner in the former horse stable. 😁
Contined to explore and burn off dinner… and make room for very popular Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. The line infront of Jeni’s was almost too long, but we had the time to waste…. and it was worth it. The waffle cones we’re being made right there, so the delicious scent drew in the crowd.
Returning to our hotel we could see a sliver of the crescent moon, similar to the South Carolina flag. (You’ll have to really zoom in 😃)
Hi you guys.. I just have one word WOW!! Looks like an amazing adventure. Love reading your blog!
